Document & signing integrations

2 results

Document collection is the slowest part of most digital journeys, and the least trustworthy. A scanned PDF proves nothing about the issuer; OCR on a photographed marksheet is a guess; and a manual verification desk turns a two-minute flow into a two-day one. The fix is to stop accepting uploads and start fetching documents from the entity that issued them.

Our document API integration connects to DigiLocker so your product can request issued documents — driving licence, vehicle RC, marksheets, certificates — directly from the issuer with the citizen's consent, arriving pre-verified rather than needing verification. Aadhaar eSign then closes the loop: a document is signed with a PKI certificate generated against an Aadhaar OTP authentication, producing a signature that is legally valid under the IT Act without a physical signature or a courier.

What you can build with document APIs

Zero-upload onboarding

Request the exact documents you need from DigiLocker with consent and receive them issuer-verified, removing both the upload step and the manual verification queue.

Same-session contract execution

Generate the agreement, initiate an Aadhaar eSign, capture the OTP and receive a signed, tamper-evident PDF — typically inside a minute.

Auditable consent capture

Use eSign to record explicit consent artefacts for data access, lending terms or health record linkage, with a cryptographic trail a regulator can inspect.

Credential verification at scale

Verify licences, registration certificates and academic awards against the issuing authority for gig onboarding, employment screening or partner due diligence.

Frequently asked questions

Is an Aadhaar eSign signature legally valid?

Yes. Aadhaar eSign produces a digital signature under the Information Technology Act using a certificate issued by a CCA-licensed authority, and it carries the same legal standing as a handwritten signature for the documents it covers.

Can we pull any document from DigiLocker?

You can request any document type the citizen holds in their DigiLocker account from a participating issuer, and only with their explicit consent for that request. Availability depends on whether the issuing authority has published the document type to DigiLocker.

What happens if the citizen declines consent?

The request returns a declined status and no document data is transmitted. Your flow should fall back to manual upload for that case, and our connector surfaces the decline explicitly rather than as a generic error.
